Martial Arts- A Way of Life
Growing up, I faced my fair share of bullying and teasing due to being adopted and having a smaller stature. Seeking a solution, my mother enrolled me in Tae-Kwon-Do at the age of eight, a pivotal decision that laid the foundation for my martial arts journey. I dedicated myself to mastering the art, eventually achieving a 4th Dan (4th Degree Black Belt) certification from the prestigious World Tae-kwon-Do Headquarters, The Kukkiwon.
My training in Tae-Kwon-Do wasn't about flashy moves or acrobatics; it was about acquiring practical skills to defend myself and others. As the years unfolded, I expanded my expertise by incorporating various martial arts styles into my repertoire, carefully selecting techniques that proved effective in different situations. Beyond the physical aspect, martial arts bestowed upon me invaluable qualities such as confidence, focus, and adaptability.
For me, the essence of martial arts for self-defense lies in being prepared to face a challenge while striving to avoid confrontation whenever possible. This philosophy has guided me to adapt and refine my martial arts style over the years. I take immense pride in embodying the respect and knowledge that martial arts instilled in me on a daily basis.
Growing up I always wanted to be a Fight Choreographer for movies. I sought out thousands of movies choreographed by my favorite choreographers and eventually I made a few short scenes myself. I am continuing to explore fight choreography with new projects in the works.
I am excited to share my wealth of martial arts experience and knowledge through personalized one-on-one sessions. If you're a resident of Whidbey Island, WA, I invite you to take a journey with me, where you can not only learn self-defense techniques but also cultivate the mental and emotional strength that martial arts imparts.
The best defense is a hidden offense. Let's connect.
